However, the flavour does not exist in freshly harvested beans. Flavour is generated by a series of procedures that begins with occasional pod storage (PS) after harvesting, followed by fermentation of the beans, and roasting. PS implies storing harvested cocoa pods for a period of time before opening. The effect of PS is believed to be beneficial for the subsequent development of cocoa flavour in the cocoa beans [1]. During roasting, several volatile heterocyclic compounds are formed, among them alkylpyrazines. These newly formed compounds are considered to be key odour components. Among alkylpyrazines, tetramethylpyrazine and trimethylpyrazine, are the most abundant ones. Other alkylpyrazines with different substituents also contribute to the aroma profile. Hence, monitoring pyrazines can be helpful in optimizing roasting conditions of cocoa beans for attaining the desired aroma of the cocoa liquors. As a result, there are increasing complaints about the poor quality of healthcare received in the public domain. Under-five mortality (U5M) is one of the key indicators in the determination of the quality of health of a nation. The Ministry of Health (MOH) and its agencies have over the years tried to reduce U5M to accelerate Ghana’s efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) 4 by 2015 but with little success. The National Catholic Health Service (NCHS) in collaboration with Institute for Health Improvement (IHI) piloted the model for improvement, a quality improvement (QI) programme in nine catholic hospitals to reduce U5M and infant mortality. The purpose of the study is to assess the impact of the QI programme implemented by the NCHS. A mixed method approach and a cross-sectional design were used. Secondary data on U5M were collected from 2007 and 2015 and analysed. A modified version of Shortell’s QI instrument was administered to a sample of 51 midwives and 48 paediatric nurses from three selected catholic hospitals, namely; Techiman Holy Family, St. Francis Xavier and Our Lady of Grace. Frequencies and cross tabulations were used in the data analysis and presentation of results. Seven core management members from the three selected hospitals and one management staff of the NCHS were interviewed and data analysed using thematic content analysis approach. The results show that, all the nine hospitals made great improvement in U5M when the implementation was at its peak. However, only three out of the nine hospitals were able to sustain the improvements made. Key factors that led to the inability of the hospitals to sustain improvements were identified and they include the organisational culture of the hospitals, management commitment and employee involvement. The findings provided an opportunity to develop a hybrid model which could be adopted by the MOH and its agencies to aid in the successful implementation of QI programmes in healthcare. In assessing impact of growth, the research undertook a descriptive statistics evaluation of five key financial performance indicators and interpreted the outcome. The study first and foremost described the emergence of alternative exchanges in other jurisdictions across the globe specifically in Europe, Asia and other African countries in a bid to resolve challenges SMEs or small businesses face in assessing funds from the capital market to finance their operations. Further, an overview of SMEs and the important role they play in economic development of nations was also highlighted citing access to finance as a major constraint they face. Theoretical and empirical review of literature related to this thesis were also evaluated and research gaps pointed out. To satisfy the research hypothesis of whether or not the GAX has had any effect on the growth of Izwe Loans, this study adopted both trend analysis to examine the trends in the financial performance of Izwe Loans and repeated measure multivariate analysis of variance (one-way rMANOVA) to estimate the model. From the trend analysis, it was found that, Izwe Loans recorded its lowest figures in 2014 having recorded fluctuating figures in 2012 and 2013. Three of the five performance indicators examined however began to rise steadily in 2015 and 2016. Inferring from the descriptive statistics results, only two ratios return on asset and return on equity recorded any significant improvement in financial performance post the GAX listing. The other three indicators, Net Interest Margin, Operating Profit Margin and Net Profit Margin did not post any significant improvement after the GAX listing. The conclusion of the study was that, the GAX has had some positive impact on Izwe Loans in terms of ROE and ROA but further studies on the GAX and listed SMEs need to carried when more data is available to re-assess its impact on the listed companies. To ascertain the influence of working capital and debt financing on the profitability of banks, the study adopt Generalized Linear Square (GLS) estimator and the Robust Random-Fixed Effect Model (RE) to analyzed the data and explaining the model equation. Using a panel data approach, the study found that variable return on equity (ROE) used to measure profitability recorded a positive association with borrower’s collection periods, bank cash conversion cycles, and debt financing presented by long-term debts. Besides, the study also revealed no significant link between short-term debts with ROE. Further, result from the main panel data disclosed that the moderating variables borrowers collection periods and short-term debt (BCP* STD), bank cash conversion cycle and long-term debt (BCCC* LTD) exhibited a significant influence on the profitability surrogated by return on equity (ROE). Whereas, the other interacting variables including BCP* LTD and BCCC* STD recorded no significant impact on return on equity. The study suggests that for banks to increase their profitability and maximize shareholder's worth it recommended that working capital and debt financing is imperative which need to be managed efficiently and effectively to uphold the confidence in the Ghanaian banking industry. The optimized conditions were then adapted for the canning process of green pepper. Blanching time ranged from 0-1 min whereas processing time and sodium metabisulphite concentration ranged from 10-30 min and 0-0.2%, respectively. The canned products were analyzed for physico-chemical qualities using standard analytical methods. Results obtained from various physico-chemical analyses showed variable trends and influences of the linear, quadratic and exponential interactions on the measured quality indices such as pH of the drained liquid, drained weight of the canned product, leached solids and colour of the canned products. The results showed significant (p. 0.05) quadratic effect of sodium metabisulphite as well as linear effect of blanching time on the drained weight of the canned green pepper. Generally, the pH of the medium decreased (increased acidity) with increasing processing time, which was also positively associated with the extent or amount of leaching. Additionally, all three factors were observed to have affected (to variable extent) the colour of the canned products. Blanching and processing times also affected the degree of browning. As Telecoms faces new imperative to deliver some value to every amount that is invested into telecom operations and setup, most companies are looking for Managed Service providers that can help managed technological business risk, managed any uncertainty, enhance agility and even control cost while at the same time maintaining their core business objectives. (Hewlett-Packard Company, 2002). This study is to explore the level of influence that using Managed Services has on the operations of the Telecom Companies. The study focuses on Airtel Ghana as a case study, and uses cooperation of vendors (MSPs), their adherence to SLAs and cost savings as a means to measure the influence of managed services on the business operations of Mobile Telecommunication Companies in Ghana. Interview was used as the main tool to gather the required information from Airtel and staffs of their four Managed Services Partners (Mahindracomviva, IBM, CSG and Ericsson. The outcome of the data analysis reveal that from the perspective of Airtel respondents and their partners alike, the level of cooperation between MSPs in working together towards service delivery is generally good. However, the MSPs level of adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) is low according to Airtel respondents although the MSPs claimed their adherence to SLA was high. Lastly, according to Airtel respondent there is really no cost savings in the operations from the use of Managed Services contrary to the general assertion that Managed Services reduce cost according to (Alexander and Young, 1996; Sheehan, 1993). The results however emphasized some benefits as sound technical support and expertise, better human resource management and opportunity to focus on core business.
