                <text>The study assessed the various maintenance practices available at MODEC Ghana and top management support and contribution to operational performance. In order to assess the effects that the quality of maintenance management practices has operational performance. Primary data obtained from engineers, maintenance supervisors, technicians and top level managers was used for the analysis. Descriptive statistics using the relative importance index method and regression analysis was performed on the obtained data. SPSS and Microsoft Excel were used for the data analysis. The findings revealed that MODEC Ghana Ltd has adopted ten (10) key maintenance management practices in its operations. Out of these ten practices, five emerged as the most frequently used. They are preventive maintenance, computer based management maintenance, scheduled maintenance, productive maintenance and condition based maintenance. It emerged also from the findings that top managers at MODEC Ghana Ltd contributed tremendously towards effective implementation of maintenance management practices. Key areas that their contributions were highly rated by respondents are budgetary allocation, their ability to make provision for technical training, provision of contemporary tools or equipment and provision of expert diagnostic or trouble shooting systems among others. From the result it emerged that “non-occurrence of accidents” and “reduction in the overall plant operation cost are the two major benefit of maintenance management that contributed positively to operational performance at MODEC Ghana Ltd. Maintenance practice have also resulted to “efficiency of the machines” and has reduced the occurrence of forced shutdowns counts per month, and increased plant reliability at MODEC. However if maintenance management is not done properly it can lead to machinery breakdown which can extend to plant shutdown.&#13;
The regression results revealed that preventive maintenance, computer based management maintenance, scheduled maintenance, productive maintenance and condition based maintenance explained a positive and significant association with operational performance.&#13;

                <text>A healthy and safe workforce is an essential component for any business to run successfully. This is evident in the enormous interest by organizations in the activities related to Occupational Health and Safety practices and organizations have used this as part of enhancing employee productivity. This study is about the effect of health and safety standards on employee productivity. The objective was to identify the health and safety standards at AngloGold Ashanti, Tarkwa in relation to the productivity of employees, to determine employees’ level of understanding of health and safety policies, to assess the attitude of management towards the health and safety of employees and to identify challenges of the implementation of health and safety standards in the organization. The study was limited to the management and production staff of AngloGold Ashanti Tarkwa. Research questionnaire and interview guide were developed and distributed to a sample of 100 workers comprising of both production staff as well as management. Responses received were from the entire sample. The study revealed that employees‟ productivity is influence by management safety practices and safety programmes, management attitude towards health and safety, investigation of accidents, supervisors‟ safety, and training of employees on safety standards held in the organisation. It also revealed that health and safety standards if managed effectively have a positive impact on productivity. It was therefore recommended that employees should receive instruction and training pertinent to the hazards, safety precaution, safe work practices, and use of personal protective equipment applicable to the type of work performed.&#13;
There should also be proper coordination of activities especially those that borders on Health and safety. A written health and safety policies should be in place and employees to be inducted about the health and safety policies. Employees to be trained to assess risk to identify potential hazards and put in contingency to manage their occurrence. There should be a continuous review of occupational health and safety policies, to ensure that firms have up to date safety measures in place.</text>

                <text>Development of infrastructural projects with private capital through Public Private Partnership (PPP) route has become one of the commonly adopted strategies in developed and developing countries. In recent times, Public Private Partnership initiatives have been strategically undertaken by the Military High Command in addressing the housing deficit in the Service. To&#13;
address the accommodation challenge faced by the GAF, Public Private Partnership initiatives as practiced in other security services is considered very crucial to bridge the housing deficit&#13;
in the Ghana Army. However, there has been an increased discussion on various national platforms across the country on the manner in which the Ghana Armed Forces is partnering the&#13;
Private Sector in the provision of infrastructure and services such as housing and demarcation of its vast lands across the country. The aim of this study was therefore to evaluate the effectiveness of the Public Private Partnership Initiative adopted by the Ghana Armed Forces in addressing its housing deficit challenge. The study adopted the mixed method (qualitative and quantitative methodologies) to address the following objectives; to determine the appropriateness of PPP in the Ghana Army housing sector, assess the challenges faced in adopting PPP in affordable housing delivery and evaluate the effect of PPP model used in the Ghana Army in accessing housing. The study found that lack of transparency in PPP arrangements hinders the success of PPP projects. The lack of strategic financial institution to partner the Ghana Armed forces in supporting huge PPP housing projects lead to the failure of PPP implementation. The study therefore recommended that Government should rally the&#13;
related organizations, institutions and agencies to make available motivations, such as land use restructurings, grants, building materials cost discount and programmes that will ensure increase housing provision for the Ghana Armed Forces.&#13;

Knowledge sharing refers to transference of knowledge among various groupings in organisations. Systems that promote knowledge sharing among employees in the public sector can lead to excellent services to the general public at all levels. This is a quantitative research to determine how the individual, organisational and technological factors affect knowledge sharing in Audit Service. The data collected is analysed with SPSS and a Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) approach is used to determine how the variables affect knowledge sharing and which has a higher influence in promoting knowledge sharing in Audit Service. The data was analysed in relation to age, gender, educational background and number of years worked by employees. The results indicate that knowledge sharing model for Audit Service leverages on the organisation variable made up of culture, reward system, enabling factors, communication, and skill and career development to promote knowledge sharing.</text>

                <text>Building projects are usually multifaceted and highly diverse to deal with, in comparison to projects done in the previous years, current projects are more time restricting, giving rise to immense technical challenges, and rarely gives the impression to have enough resources. All of this leads to increased project risk; this runs through most projects because every building project involves risks. The management within the building industry requires reliant approach to information and knowledge in order to manage risks in an adequate and organized method of action. Thus, the implementation of an effective risk management in relation to managing associated project risk knowledge may expedite successful building / construction project endeavors.&#13;
The aim of this study is to develop an understanding of issues pertaining to managing risks in building projects as well as approaches for efficient and effective management of risks in projects within the building industry. This was carried out by providing background specification on risk management, it outlines the aims and objectives, the purpose of study and touches on ethical considerations. This paper tends to review the existing comprehensive (work of literature) and presenting how this study is distinguished from the others. Alongside, a number of theoretical concepts and views of experts and researchers with respect to the subject area and their input to the existing literature. It additionally, provides the methodological framework and includes strategies adopted in obtaining data, how achievable and well argued it was, to help in providing data analysis. This study finally highlights the analysis, findings and discussion of results derived from the data gathered. It provides an accurate presentation of data with a clever interpretation of results, and as a final point, summarizes the dissertation, by stating the outcome of the surveys as well as providing recommendations and references for future research guidelines on project risks within the range of the building / construction industry.</text>

                <text>In the Niger Delta Region today, we have a poorly diversified economy due to the over reliance on oil assets. To make matters worse these oil assets are continually harvested in a manner that is degrading the environment with low levels of returns to the economy at large. While the government has tried to set up a proper developmental plan with the commissioning of the Niger Delta development commission (NDDC), there has been challenges in doing this as some problems prevent effective execution of this plan. This study will assess these problems with a view of finding a root cause and then establishing a resolution or control for these problems. A targeted sample size of 399 respondents as people of Niger Delta representing nine states involving Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, Ondo, Abia, Imo and Edo State were all sampled using stratified sampling technique, this was done to get a general view of the reasons for the failure of the different agencies in proffering lasting solution to the lingering crises and agitation for commensurate development in the Niger Delta. The arithmetical approaches of measurements used here were regularity distributions, percentages, means and standard deviations.&#13;
The study found that lack of proper education of the people, lack of air pollution control and devices by industries, poor enforcement of the administrative management and regulatory agency are the major challenges hampering the development of this constituency by these agencies. Also, the culture of the people of the Niger Delta seem not to respect human dignity and decency since it has been left un-catered for decades while exploration has continued, the present government efforts is not enough to assure the people of the promised sustainable development based on the corruption culture bedevilling all government agencies.</text>

                <text>Ensuring Total Quality in the construction industry has been seen as the degree of excellence in meeting customer requirements or specifications. But it is not achieved most of the time mainly due to factors such as the employment of unqualified human resource; lack of compliance to standards, structural defects, deterioration as a result of abandonment of buildings, dampness, cracks, leakages, among others. The main objective of this study is to examine challenges in constructing building projects in the context of Total Quality Management Principles (TQM). The study examined the impact of ensuring compliance to Total Quality Management (TQM) principles by concentrating on four resource factors; Human, financial, equipment and material resources. The study adopted a quantitative method approach and used a survey research design. Research questions were sent out to gather data from respondents. SPSS was used to analyze the data with regards to factors that prohibit compliance of TQM Principles. The study found out that compliance is compromised when there are inadequate materials, lack of motivation and allowance for workers, and lack of advanced equipment. Moreover, it was found out that there are negative correlations between equipment, financial and material resources and challenges in implementing TQM. The researcher recommended that management must ensure Quality Assurances by conforming to and implementing ISO 9000 and concept of resource compliance</text>

                <text>The management of stakeholders in the telecommunication industry has not received much attention in Ghana. The purpose of the study was therefore to explore stakeholder management and its impact on telecommunication mast construction projects in Eaton Towers Company. A sample size of 80 comprising of both internal and external stakeholders of the Eaton Towers Company, was used for the study. The quantitative survey was the most appropriate study design as the researcher gathered varied opinions on the subject matter through the administration of questionnaires. Per the findings of the study, the three most influential internal stakeholders of the project included project management team, top management, and procurement team. Similarly, the most influential external stakeholders included customers, contractors, and government agencies. While the study revealed that stakeholder analysis, stakeholder engagement, stakeholder mapping, communication and reporting plan and stakeholder interest matrix were the internal management strategies used in managing internal stakeholders, stakeholder analysis, stakeholder engagement, stakeholder mapping and communication were the dominant strategies used in the management external stakeholders. Per the results, lack of acceptance of the project and support from relevant parties, ineffective stakeholder identification, and analysis, inadequate stakeholder engagement, poor management of stakeholders, relevant stakeholders were not carried along at the initial stages and finance were the crucial challenges faced in the management of internal stakeholders. On the other hand, key challenges in the management of external stakeholders identified were government agencies prolong bureaucratic processes in the approval and issuance of building permits, contractors not complying to project schedule, supplying of out-of-specification materials and inefficient work procedure.&#13;
The study, therefore, recommended that internal and external stakeholders have to be involved in programs that would build good and healthy working relationship that drives cooperation towards common goals in achieving successful project implementation.</text>

                <text>The need for air condition companies to implement lean in the delivery of services is one that cannot be overlooked. Growth in any industry is linked to satisfaction given to customers of that&#13;
industry. The key to maintaining a competitive advantage in service delivery can be attributed to the implementation of lean techniques and principles. This study assesses lean implementation in the after sales service of the air condition&#13;
industry using Cold Temperatures Limited as a case study. This assessment is done by applying lean techniques and principles in the minimization of waste. A brief background of lean principles and techniques by various authors is presented which includes both empirical and theoretical review of the literature.&#13;
Both qualitative and quantitative research methods were used. Observations were done and questionnaires administered randomly to active customers of Cold Temperatures Limited&#13;
after calculating the sample size using Yamane’s (1967) formula. Furthermore, data collection was done by walking the shop floor and recording the processing and lead times for service delivery.&#13;
SPSS and Excel were used to generate tables and charts which helped in analysing data obtained and also identify the wastes within the company. The Pareto chart and cause and effect&#13;
diagram were also used to analyse the causes of the wastes in Cold Temperatures Limited. The takt time was calculated after drawing the current state of Cold Temperatures Limited with the&#13;
value stream map. This helped in the determination of the pace of service delivery. A future state map was then drawn indicating the improvement needed areas after which lean technique was&#13;
applied in the minimization of the wastes identified.&#13;
In conclusion, the researcher observed the service delivery of Cold Temperatures Limited&#13;
to be poor due to several factors and therefore recommended the maintenance and delivery&#13;
preparation departments to be joined together in order to eliminate the waste of motion between&#13;
these departments.</text>
