                <text>The study was carried out to ascertain the significance of collection development policy in some public academic libraries in Ghana with Ghana Communication Technology University as the case study. The study adopted a case study design and used a qualitative method in its examinations. A self-designed interview schedule was used to solicit information from the staff library. The study participants included the head librarian, deputy librarian and four (4) assistant librarians. The face-to-face interview method was used as a data collection instrument for this study–content analysis was used to analyse the data. The findings indicated that the university library has a CDP which is reviewed biennially. However, further findings revealed that even though CDPs exist in the library it does not feature much when it comes to acquisitions. It was recommended that management of the library should make a conscious effort to use the policy to guide acquisitions.</text>

                <text>This study examines the use of electronic databases (e-databases) by faculty members at the Ghana Communication Technology University Library (GCTUL). The study used a descriptive research method. Copies of the questionnaire were used for the data collection. Due to the manageable population, no sampling method was used in this study. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (IBM-SPSS 21.0) was used for data analysis. The results showed that most faculty members were aware of the availability of databases in the library. Additionally, the findings established that Emerald, as well as Taylor and Francis, were ranked highly in terms of availability and accessibility. The study identified problems such as difficulty in downloading information as well as poor internet connectivity. Based on the results, the study recommended that library management should address all the challenges that users encounter as soon as possible. This result should be a timely and relevant commodity for policymakers and stakeholders in private and public academic libraries.</text>

                <text>he study was designed to identify the impact of social media usage on academic performance of undergraduate students of Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU), Accra. The survey method was adopted for this study. The objectives of this study were to find out the purpose of visit to these social media platforms, to analyse the average time spent on these platforms, to discover the effects of these platforms on the academic performance of students and to examine related problems in the usage of the platforms. 800 students were selected as sample for the study. Random sampling technique was employed for sample selection. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS version 20) was used to analyze the data. From the findings, it was concluded that despite public views concerning the misuse of social media among the youth, most of the students were interested to use social media positively for their academic purposes. The study recommended that counselling programs must be designed for students to understand themselves and manage their study time to avoid social media misuse.</text>

                <text>This study was conducted to ascertain the collection development practices at Ghana Communication&#13;
Technology University (GCTU) Library. The study set out to find out if there exists a collection development policy at&#13;
GCTU library. The population of the study was grouped into two main categories, namely users of the library and the&#13;
library staff. In the selection of students, the simple random sampling technique was used to select the participants. The&#13;
general population for library staff was used. The sample size of the student participants was 226 comprising 120 male,&#13;
106 female students, and 16 library staff. Data for the study was collected through questionnaire and interviews. The&#13;
SPSS was used to analyze the questionnaire and content analysis used to analyse the interviews. The findings revealed&#13;
that the GCTU library has a collection development policy even though it does not guide selection so much. Findings&#13;
again indicated that the library has both print and electronic resource for its users, as well as 24-hour internet services but&#13;
it is not too stable. It was recommended that the supply of internet to the library should be improved to aid the access to&#13;
the library’s e-resources. </text>

                <text>This study was conducted to ascertain records management practices at the Ghana Communications Technology University (formerly Ghana Technology University College) a mid-sized Ghanaian public university located in Accra. All the staff at the Admissions and Records departments participated in the study. This comprised two (2) heads of department and seven (7) senior staff from both departments. The face-to-face interviews were employed as a data collection instrument for this study. The findings indicated that the University has neither a policy to regulate the management of students' records nor a professional archivist to manage records. However, the head of the Records office was given a three-day training on the assumption of office. It was revealed that the head of admissions, as well as all the staff of the two departments, had never been given any training. There were some challenges impeding records management in the Admissions and Records offices–among them are; lack of adequate staff, inadequate storage equipment, lack of periodic training, lack of policy to guide records management and inability of students to furnish the Admission office with the needed information. It was recommended that the University should employ a professional archivist to manage student records, provide adequate storage facilities, organise periodic training for staff as well promulgate a policy to guide records management in the Admissions and Records offices.</text>
