                <text>In contemporary times, amidst the downturn in the Oil and gas business, many Oil and gas companies have had to fold up, resorted to severe head count reduction or merged to survive. It is therefore ciritcal if not imperative to resort to waste reduction in order to survive the current state of affairs, be sustainable in the long term as part of recovery and making supeior profits by retaining market share with a competitive advantage.&#13;
The proposed strategy used in this research is Value Stream Mapping. It’s a tecnique that optimizes the current flow process to identify and eliminate waste. It is a lean tool usaullay used on production floors. In our case it is adopted for a service compnay; Schlumberger Ghana. The research conducted a survey amongst the employee population to help identify waste, evalute their understanding of the Value Stream Mapping, understand how customers and Suppliers contribute to this process and calrify the overall company’s culture in respect to Value Stream Mapping. From the data received in this survey, it was realised that top amongst the issues of logistical delays were poor job planning and unrealistic lead times with 74% and 51% respondents agreeing to this assertion respectively. The data from this survey fed into the development of a leaner workflow logistical process by incorporating a planning team whose sole role is to assit with job planning and provide a better oversight and a dedicated logistics team stationed permanently at the port to assist with clearance of goods. There was an overall improvement in the Current State which had a lead time of 47 days out of which 23.5 days were value-added and 23.5 days were non-value-added times. The future State had 28 days lead time with 16 days value added and 12 days non-value-added time. This means there was a 40% improvement in the lead time comprising of a 19 day reduction, 32% reduction in the Value-added-time comprising of 7.5 day reduction and a 49% improvement in the non-value added-time conssisting of 11.5 days reduction over the current state. With the improvement of the current state and the introduction of the planning team, there is a continous effort to reduce unwanted inventory and obsolete products in the location to zero. This drive to reduce depreciation to the bearest minium coupled with the improvement in the flow stream will offset the financial loses of the company to move them back to profit making in the coming years.&#13;

                <text>The study investigated the organizational culture and its effect on project success using a sample from construction industries in Ghana. Using a correlational research design, data were collected from 250 participants of five construction companies in Ghana using reliable research questionnaires. Standard multiple regression and hierarchical regression analyses were conducted on the data. The results showed that, organisational culture was significantly and positively related to project success. Consistent with the dimensions of organizational culture, the study found culture producing a strong effect on project success. It has also been manifested in the study that when employees feel like a family (i.e. community culture), then, they feel that the organisation is part of them and thus, work hard to ensure that the goals of the organisation are accomplished.(Burton 2012)&#13;
Similarly, when the culture of innovation is encouraged, then, people tend to be creative, take proactive measures and reasonable risks in order to accomplish organisational goals. Further, cultures that are characterized by efficient communication systems, well-defined and achievable tasks, comfortable work environment and autonomy are more likely to lead to a highly successful project. It is therefore clear that, culture have an impact on project success in the selected construction companies in Ghana.&#13;

Many countries and organisations have adopted different methodologies for ensuring safe, affordable and successful construction projects. The definition of construction project success has also evolved with time. Construction projects now place emphasis on stake holders’ requirements rather than completing a state of the art edifice. Environmental concerns have now become an uncompromising factor in determining the success of a civil construction project. Projects that are duly executed must meet design specification, pass environmental impact assessment, be within budget, be completed within time, meet all safety standards and serve the stakeholder’s purpose. All these stakeholder’s expectations have made civil engineering construction more complex,&#13;
complicated and robust. Project managers are faced with diverse challenges in the quest of fully satisfying the needs of stakeholders. Project managers encounter both Constructional and Non-Constructional challenges. Non-Constructional challenges include legal issues, socio-political pressures and government interference. All these challenges if not controlled, deflected or mitigated will substantially increase the cost of the project and also result in project delays. The main purpose of project management is to achieve objectives and goals through the planned allocation of resources that meet project cost, quality, time safety and scope requirements. This thesis seeks to research into causes of project delays and expenditure cost overrun in Ghana construction industry. The writing will also cover practical strategic project management approaches to mitigating these challenges. Though this work addresses civil engineering construction by all construction companies, emphasis will be placed on multinational companies working in Ghana. This research work employs the use of questionnaires and interviews in its methodology. Data collected is then analyzed to interpret problem trends. Procedures and practical remedies to identified challenges is also analyzed to know their effects on other projects. Data was collected from 80 individuals spread across the three categories of respondents namely clients, contractors and consultants. However, out of the 80 respondents interviewed, 75 responses were deemed valid for analysis. The findings identified the factors responsible for&#13;
project delays and cost overrun of multinational companies in Ghana construction industry. The findings also identified solutions to the causes of these delays and cost overrun.</text>

                <text>Investigating the impact of HRM practices in the Nigerian building construction industry and how they influence improvement in the organizational performance is the outcome of this research work. Ongoing research work on the impact of human resource management practices on project based companies has been undertaking mainly in developed countries, however little research study on this aspect has been undertaking in developing countries particularly Nigeria. Despite the fact that it’s universally agreed that building construction industry still remains labor intensive in spite of the technological advancement. This makes the role of employees in the industry to be very critical in the success of this organization, hence the need to acquire and manage them effectively and efficiently through the soft model of HRM practices of every organization for the overall benefits of all stakeholders. The research study develop a theoretical framework that was constructed containing some four practices of HRM (recruitment &amp; selection, training &amp; development, job evaluation and performance appraisal) as independent variables in order to test the dependent variable of improvement in organizational performance. Purposive sampling method was adopted in the search for quantitative data using five-scale likert style closed-ended questionnaires as the research instrument. Statistical package for social science (SPSS) was used in the analysis of the primary data gathered. The findings of the research reinforce the findings of similar research in the field of study, that these HRM practices have significant impact that can influence improvement in the organizational performance and that the practices complement each other.&#13;
The research was concluded with the recommendation that construction companies should engage the services of trained personal in HRM in order to maximize the positive impact of the practices. It will be good also for the project managers to also be involved in the training. Finally of the four practices, the recruitment and selection is believed to be the bedrock of having well committed employees.</text>

                <text>In construction industry DeSimone Ghana limited mostly undertake some motivational action toward its workers with the objective to complete projects within time, scope and budget. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of workers motivation on job performance in the construction industry. The specific research objectives were to identify the worker job performance indicators in the construction industry, to identify the critical factors of motivation in construction industry and to ascertain if the factors of motivation can influence job performance in construction industry. The population size was 1136 workers and sample size 168. Quantitative method has been used for this research and 168 questionnaire were administered and only 118 were collected back. The research has revealed that the workers job performance indicators were effectively used in the industry and they include innovation, safety, quality, cost and time. The study has also revealed that factors of motivation were influencing job performance at DeSimone and that the industry must take note of the factors that motivate workers in their company such as: job condition, cars for movement/transportation for workers, advancement in the company, opportunity for promotion, fringe benefits responsibility, recognizes job accomplished, worker housing loan scheme, increase salaries. Further the study has revealed that motivational packages were influencing job performance in the industry and DeSimone motivational packages order of importance include job condition, responsibility, worker housing loan scheme, advancement in the company, cars for movement, opportunity for promotion, fringe benefits, and increase of salary and recognition for job accomplished. Finally, the findings provides evidence that both worker motivation and worker job performance move in the same direction, and both are positive. The higher the motivation, the higher the performance.&#13;

                <text>This research study sought to identify factors influencing completion of construction projects. The research objectives were; to determine how contract duration influences completion of construction projects, to investigate whether project financing influences completion of construction projects in Accra to examine how planning influences completion of small construction projects in Accra to find out how supervision of work influences completion of construction projects in Accra to assess how the type of project delivery chosen influences completion of construction projects in Accra. The research adopted descriptive and explorative, or correlative. The sample population includes architects, quantity surveyors, structural engineers, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, land surveyors construction project managers and private developers. The findings showed that project cost increased by an average of 13.5%, while project duration increased by 33.6%. 98% of respondents believe project financing and inspection/ supervision, influence completion of construction projects. 73% and 71%, respectively gave the information that construction contract duration and project delivery type chosen respectively influence the completion of construction projects..The recommendations include project managers need to engage project stakeholders all through project lifetime. Competent project managers should be involved in projects while clients should provide adequate project financing. Contractors should not have cash flow problems and project teams should be trained on project success factors. A quality culture in construction, industry should be encouraged. Every stakeholder in construction projectimplementation should be sensitized to the reality that projects will most likely suffer delay in contract duration and definitely increase in project costs.</text>

                <text>The study sought to first evaluate problems and prospects of outsourcing in the banking sector using Zenith bank as a case study and it also identify the types of activities outsourced by the Zenith Bank Ghana limited. The study assesses the factors influencing outsourcing at Zenith Bank Ghana limited. It also assesses the benefits and challenges associated with outsourcing in the bank. A simple random sampling was used in selecting one hundred officials of Zenith Bank Ghana Limited and questionnaires were used to collect the requisite information from the officials. The data was analysed using descriptive statistic such as frequencies, percentages and means. The study revealed that majority of the respondents has acquired at least a bachelor’s degree. majority of the respondents have been working in the bank for at least 1 year hence have acquired the necessary knowledge to answer the research question. From the study it was revealed that one of the major functions outsourced is the activities associated to security of the bank. It was also revealed that the bank outsources its cleaning and printing activities. Recruitment of supporting staffs is outsourced by the bank. The study revealed that increased and uncontrolled operational cost influences outsourcing decision of the bank. Scarce internal resource for other purposes influences the decision to outsource decision of the bank. It was also revealed that outsourcing provides core staffs the requisite time to focus more on designing the appropriate organizational strategies and provides the bank access to the vendor’s technology. The study revealed that outsourcing brings about a loss of managerial control over outsourced operations and has the tendency to affect the quality of operation of the bank. The study recommends that management should outline clearly the operations of the activities that are outsourced so as to prevent conflict of interest that could affect the quality of operation.</text>

                <text>With the objective of studying the impact of effective stakeholder management on the success of infrastructural projects in Ghana’s tertiary institutions, this study sought to identify what constitutes project success in the opinion of associated stakeholders of infrastructural projects carried out in tertiary educational institutions in Ghana, determining determinants of effective stakeholder management and how they impact on the infrastructural projects and finally creating a profile and engagement tool for managing projects within the context of infrastructural projects in state owned tertiary educational institutions in general and GIMPA in particular.&#13;
The case study approach was adopted for this study coupled with data collected through surveys. The entire organisation (GIMPA) constituted the population for the research. With a sample size of 47, the purposive sampling technique was adopted to select primary stakeholders while secondary stakeholders were randomly sampled. The results of this study suggest that understanding project stakeholders, their different requirements and measuring project performance against defined key performance indicators are relevant steps to achieving success for all project stakeholders. The study concluded with a model for stakeholder profiling and engagement for the organisation to improve on its internal processes and two key recommendations thus: Tertiary educational institutions should pay close attention to stakeholder management issues in a formalized manner as this has been found to have a strong correlation with project success. Project stakeholder management efforts being undertaken in institutions of higher learning should focus first and foremost on the top five priority stakeholder engagement activities discovered in this research; namely, proper stakeholder identification, frequent engagements, solving conflict issues promptly, constantly analyzing and making the most of intra-stakeholder coalitions and conflicts, as well as demonstrating an understanding of and responding to the interests of the various stakeholder groups.&#13;

                <text>Projects monitoring and evaluation provide stakeholders with ceaseless inputs for the implementation, execution, interval and terminal assessments of ongoing projects. It has been established that monitoring and evaluation is an aspect of project management that needs the commitment of all stakeholders involved in the project. In Ghana, efforts are being made to monitor and evaluate projects to ensure favorable outcome and minimize wastage. This research study focuses on examining the role and challenges of monitoring and evaluation of Tema Development Corporation Projects using FOAT.&#13;
The researcher adopted the both descriptive and quantitative analysis as a methodology. In view of that, questionnaires were administered to various professionals on board projects within the TDC’s domain. This approach was considered because it offers better investigation and in-depth examining of issues to get required responses. Findings from the research revealed that the M&amp;E roles played by staff in TDC were not enough to support effective and efficient M&amp;E management on TDC projects. The application of FOAT assessment tool was found to be difficult in terms of usage in the M &amp; E activities of TDC, this exposed the fact that there was no clear effectiveness and credibility that the monitoring and evaluation activities of TDC’s M&amp;E and National&#13;
Integrated M&amp;E promotes and strengthens connectedness and collaboration in governance. Responses from the questionnaires administered goes further to prove that there was lack of clear&#13;
roles and effective organizational structures within TDC’s monitoring and evaluation activities. The final Outcome Measurement of projects undertaken by TDC was the key indicator in measuring projects by the corporation. This study was the first of its kind since the FOAT is commonly used only by municipal and district assemblies rather than other state owned&#13;
enterprises. The study did not extend to the development of M&amp;E theories. This study goes further to make recommendations on the possible means to curb these challenges and measures to implement effective M&amp;E practices using the FOAT as an assessment tool.&#13;

However, in Ghan a, its implementation has been slow and this raises concern linked to determinants and challenges of e-procurement implementation. Consequently the purpose of the study was to determine the readiness of public procurement entities in the road sector for a successful implementation of e-procurement.&#13;
Specifically, the study sought to identify the likely determinants and their effects on the execution of E-procurement in public procurement entities in the road sector, determine the&#13;
likely benefits and challenges connected with the execution of e-procurement. The staffs at the department of feeder roads including engineers, quantity surveyors, and procurement&#13;
experts were the target population of the study. The study found dependent variables on implementation of e-procurement positively and significantly correlated with effective and&#13;
efficient implementation of e- procurement. Regression analysis further revealed that ICT infrastructure, level of employee competence in Information Technology, governance,&#13;
management commitment and procurement regulations on implementation of e-procurement were significant determinants of successful implementation of e-procurement. The study also&#13;
revealed some key benefits and challenges of the implementation process which might need attention. The study therefore recommended that procuring entities i n G h a n a need to create e- procurement platforms by investing in ICT infrastructure both in hardware and software linking all procurement stakeholders. Moreover, the employees have to be&#13;
motivated to learn, and train in e- procurement regulations and ICT skills for successful implementation of e-procurement. Therefore bodies like Public Procurement Authority(PPA)&#13;
which is mandated with the responsibility of ensuring that procurement procedures established under the Act are complied with, need to, provide advice and assistance to procuring entities and employees. Finally managers should be able to adopt change management strategies towards making the transformation process from manual to eprocurement&#13;
